Teaching Objectives
The Department of Electrical Engineering's development philosophy is to cultivate applied technology and commercialization talent required by current and future industries, while also emphasizing technology-oriented research to bridge academic research and industrial product development. The specific approach involves integrating high-tech artificial intelligence, communication, networking, and traditional electrical engineering capabilities to develop intelligent control systems and apply them to smart living technology-related fields, thereby creating a unique development area for the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Curriculum Planning
To achieve the above objectives, the Department of Electrical Engineering divides its professional faculty into three areas: Intelligent Control, Power and Energy Conversion, and Communication Systems. Concurrently, curriculum revisions and learning program settings for each area have been completed to enhance research and development capabilities in each field and help students establish their learning directions.
Main Equipment
The Department of Electrical Engineering has various laboratories including Electrical Machinery Lab, Motor Control Lab, PSOC Servo Lab, Microprocessor Lab, FPGA/CPLD Lab, Programmable Logic Control Lab, Intelligent Control Lab, Automatic Control Lab, Digital Signal Processing Lab, Communication Lab, RFID Lab, Electronics Lab, Computer-Aided Engineering Lab, and Industrial Power Distribution Lab to train students in basic research skills for future participation in research work in various fields and to undertake basic research tasks.
Faculty and Development Features
The department currently has 18 full-time faculty members, all holding master's or doctoral degrees from renowned domestic and international universities, with specialized expertise. Faculty members lead graduate and project students in the following integrated and specialized development areas according to their individual professional fields.
Power and Energy Conversion Field
The development focus of the Power and Energy Conversion field is shifting from traditional electrical engineering to modern electrical engineering. New courses such as Introduction to Green Energy and Energy Conversion and Applications have been added to align with modern electrical development. An Energy Conversion and Applications Research Lab has also been established to showcase achievements.
Intelligent Control Field
The key development feature of the Intelligent Control field is the application of artificial intelligence technology to traditional control. Therefore, new courses such as Hardware Description Language and Robotics have been added to the Intelligent Control field to enhance students' learning outcomes.
Communication Systems Field
To enhance the development focus of the Communication Systems field, new courses such as Fiber Optic Communication and Mobile Communication have been added. Concurrently, a Communication Applications Research Lab has been established. Looking forward, the department passed IEET engineering and technology education accreditation in the 2008 academic year, aligning its teaching achievements with international standards. In the future, the department will continue to recruit outstanding talents to join the faculty, strive for research and industry-academia cooperation projects, develop application technologies, and advance teaching and research development in line with the industrial environment and domestic and international technological advancements, cultivating excellent technological talents and serving society.
